The Only Love We Can Return to God
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. – I John 4:10, 11
Love and Law are necessary counterparts, necessary to each other. God’s love is infinite and perfect. We know God loves us because He sent His Son to perfectly satisfy God’s Law on our behalf.
This carries over into our lives, grounded in respect and awe, it endures.
If you made a list of your qualities that were worthy of your love, would any of them contradict God’s Law?
God’s Law is the definition of holiness. Holiness is worthy of love.
Why, How does God love us?
If you are born again, God has always looked at what you will be – the person He ordained you to be in Christ – in glory – perfectly conformed to Christ Jesus, and perfectly conformed to God’s Law.
Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. – Ephesians 1:4
The only love that we can return to God is heartfelt obedience to His Law – as a result of His grace shown towards us.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” – John 14:15.
But, maybe I’m alone. I doubt it, but maybe no one cares anymore. But maybe.
Yahweh’s triune moral law (His commandments, statutes, and judgments) are a reflection of His everlasting righteousness and immutable morality. It could be argued that it is these two elements (which are essentially one and same) that provide us insight into the nature of God, that is, His very essence. Therefore, to do away with His moral law is to do away with His essence, and to do away with His essence is to effectively do away with God.
Agreed Ted, and when you take out God, you get what we have today…..Confusion.
I hear all the time people claim to stand for Yah’s laws then turn around and break them all without batting an eye or any shame anytime – problem is MOST people know so very little of Yah’s Law book & expectations – the idols of grace as mace made in mens hands for perversion of an excursion of latitude short of platitude essentials worthy of the nature of Yah’s reflection effectively balanced for judgment in ones moral reflection due his Creator through unchanging standards of truth in love demonstrated in harmony.
