Steve Lawson: Like It or Not, You Live in a Theocracy
And the true Church said, “Amen!”

The world is not run by a democracy, the majority rule of men, but by a theocracy, the sovereign rule of God.

Joel, here’s how I put it in “Bible Law vs. the United State Constitution: The Christian Perspective”:
“…There is no escaping theocracy. A government’s laws reflect its morality, and the source of that morality (or, more often than not, immorality) is its god. It is never a question of theocracy or no theocracy, but whose theocracy. The American people, by way of their elected officials, are the source of the Constitutional Republic’s laws. Therefore, the Constitutional Republic’s god is WE THE PEOPLE.
People recoil at the idea of a theocracy’s morality being forced upon them, but because all governments are theocracies, someone’s morality is always being enforced. This is an inevitability of government. The only question is which god, theocracy, laws, and morality will we choose to live under? ….”
For more, see Chapter 3 “WE THE PEOPLE vs. YAHWEH” at http://www.bibleversusconstitution.org/BlvcOnline/biblelaw-constitutionalism-pt3.html.
Yes. And unfortunately, whenever anyone puts forth ‘theocracy’ they are usually branded “un-American”.
But, better to be allegedly un-American than to be un-Biblical.
Of course, the irony in the accusation is that when one comprehends the voluminous benefits of Yahweh’s perfect law and altogether righteous judgments (Psalm 19:7-11), Biblical theocrats are the MOST pro-American people in the nation.
Yep!
WOW! Commendation on this blog for a decidedly Reformed and unashamedly Calvinistic pastor and theologian…..who’d a thunk it?
Why is this so surprising? I’m all for the doctrines of grace, all 5 of them.
I was probable mistaking some of your remarks about some of the ‘New Calvinists’ , as an indictment of Calvinism, as is the case at some blogs I have been banned from, my friend!. I think I have seen you referenced at just such a blog that leaves a wrong impression of you. My sincere apologies! I need to visit your place more often.
I think I would bear in mind that although God does reign and rule over all of his creation, America is not a theocracy if we define it as having a state religion. The topic is a great conversation starter, for sure!
