UNBELIEVABLE. But in another way, not surprising. If scripture and my “system” are at odds, toss out scripture. J Mac referred to scripture (Rev 13) to describe the mark of the beast, but when it came to those who receive the mark, he appealed to THE SYSTEM, not scripture. Damnation for all who receive the mark doesn’t make sense according to THE SYSTEM, so it can’t be…..But in the very next chapter of the bible, SCRIPTURE says:
Rev 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, 10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.
For ever and ever. Pretty clear passage. J Mac has a very impressive knowledge of the scriptures. Surely he is aware of this passage? Why did he not use it in his answer????
Joel,
Have you posted your thoughts on this video yet, or did I miss them?
Dan Greer
Not yet. Still working on it.
Oh my God! These leaders are throwing out the Word of God and being used by Satan to influence Christians to take the mark of the Beast, and it will be Okay.
and where does the Bible state this mark is permanent and can not be removed once one becomes saved? Where in scripture does it say this mark is the unpardonable sin? It is damnation to those who keep it as their identity and honor of the A/C; but to those who wake up from hearing the gospel and remove it?
Rev. 14:9, say it with me…”if any man…if any man….if any man…if any man….ANY MAN….” Sorry, the only way you can abide by J Mac’s teaching on this is by turning a (willing) blind eye to this clear passage of scripture and inventing totally unscriptural scenarios like the one you mentioned (removing the mark). Who will you worship? The God of the bible who has every right to say who will be saved and who won’t, or your fallible human teacher?
Romans 5:10 “10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.”
Eph 2:3 “3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body[a] and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind.[b]” Pay close attention to^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ children of wrath.
Next lets look at what cup it was Jesus drank for us and what this did for us.Mark 14:36 and again in Luke 22:42 Isaiah 1:18
But just in case we think these people are worse sinners than us and we haven’t been cleansed of such a mark I will point to Romans 3:23 and Romans 5:12. That’s really clear. Worship is a key factor here, which explains buy sell or trade(Col 3:23 comes to my mind)
No I don’t agree with all JM says however realizing we have a mark already on us(the mark of sin Read Romans 1 for clarification) God cleanses us and places a new mark on us sealing us with the Holy Spirit.
No it’s not blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. Pretty sure JM has some of these scriptures in mind.
There is no justifying this….all who teach this will have blood on their hands.
16And he causes all… Revelation 13
9 If any man …Revelation 14
Twice we are strongly told in no uncertain terms that those who do are condemned.
http://www.gty.org/resources/sermons/66-48 — a sermon from Oct. 31, 1993 where MacArthur teaches correctly. Excerpt:
“But this will be the mark that men and women have to have or else they cannot eat, they cannot live, surely they will die. So we see the person, the power, and the program of the false prophet. There’s a last point, it’s not in the chapter, but I have to give it to you, it’s his punishment…his punishment. His person, his power, his program, finally his punishment. For this we go to chapter 14 verse 9, and we’ll look in this section in more detail coming up. But in verse 9, “Another angel, a third one, followed them saying with a loud voice, `If anyone worships the beast and his image and receives a mark on his forehead or upon his hand, he will also drink of the wine of the wrath of God.’ And when it comes it will be mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.'”
So here’s a warning to the whole world, you take that mark and you are going to receive the wrath of God. Now you can make your choice, you can refuse the mark and get the wrath of the Antichrist, or you can take the mark and get the wrath of God. The wrath of God means torment with fire and brimstone and it says in verse 11, “And the smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever and they have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image and whoever receives the mark of his name.” You take it and you will suffer torment forever.”
Why would anyone take heed of someone who has their eschatology messed up badly. The same literal approach that has Mac believing in premill dispensationalism, is responsible for him believing the ” mark” is a physical one, its not, “buying and selling” is the province of those who take the mark , have the name of the beast , or the number of his name.
What people need to think long and hard on is that those who take part in the first resurrection….didn’t take the mark .those who take part in the first resurrection…did not …worship the beast or it image or receive the mark on their hand or forehead.
4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God.
They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. Revelation 20
While I don’t agree with your interpretation, at least you see Mac is in error, and that’s a start.
I don’t care what he says, all men lie…. Deception is all around us. We shall all be tested, true believers need to spiritually prepare.. JESUS Suffered what makes us so special that we won’t suffer? I just pray I am able to stand firm with all devotion to the true King of Kings… with these words in my mouth, Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life.. No one comes to the father except through me… john 14:6.
Is “Dispensational Schizophrenia” a redundancy?
