SEALFIT: A Beginning

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. – I Corinthians 9:27

The apostle Paul in this passage puts forth himself as an example to his readers of all that he has been preaching, lest he himself is shown as unqualified.

Part of what he has been preaching was discipline for the body, mind and soul. He certainly exerted himself in the preaching of the Gospel. It took stamina as well as general physical health to travel as he did. Basically, in context, Paul is preaching on the topic of self-control, and wow, self-control certainly is something we all need more of, right?

Today, I’ve begun my attempt at doing what I can regarding self-control and discipline over my body. The format, or path, that I’ve chosen is a program called “8 Weeks to SEALFIT.”

From what I’ve read so far, and today, after my first WOD (workout of the day), this may hurt – scratch that – it will hurt, but I think it will definitely be worth it.

After the first WOD, my legs feel like soft, melted rubber. But it feels good.

After all, I cannot, as a minister, preach on health and well being of our bodies as the temple of God which they are, if I am not working towards being healthy and taking care of the body which God has given me now can I?

This is, I have no doubt, going to be a long journey, but, Lord willing it will be beneficial both physically and spiritually.

Pray that I don’t quit. 🙂

“SEALFIT was developed by former Navy SEAL Commander Mark Divine for the unique and specialized needs of SEAL trainees to develop mental toughness — but is effective for any professional serious about their fitness and performance, as well as all “industrial athletes” who must rely on their bodies and minds to be at their peak for their daily jobs.
Whether your personal battles incorporate the predominantly physical domains of military operators, first responders or endurance athletes, or the less physically intense yet equally challenging environments of the private sector — SEALFIT is structured to develop a warrior mind and body that incorporates the whole person. SEALFIT trains the body, mind and spirit to operate at an elite level alone and with a Team.”
