The Lighter Side: Government Farm Visit
An arrogant, young Department of Agriculture representative stopped at a farm and talked with the old farmer; “I need to inspect your farm.”
The old farmer said, “No, this is private property and you’re standing on my land, son, you’ll have to leave, right now.”
The Agricultural representative said in a “wise” tone of voice, “Mr., I have the full authority of the U.S. Government with me. You have no choice. You see this badge? I’m allowed to go wherever I want and do whatever I wish on agricultural land, whether you like it or not. Do you understand?”
The old farmer said, “Yep. But you better not go into that field.” So the farmer went about his chores.
Later, the farmer heard loud screams coming from the field and saw the Department of Agriculture man running for the fence, close behind was the farmer’s prize bull. The bull was gaining ground quickly and madder than a nest full of hornets.
“Help! Help me!” the rep shouted to the farmer, “what should I do?” he screamed helplessly.
The old farmer jumped on the fence, hooked his thumbs under his overalls, and called out, “Show him your badge, son, show him your badge!”
