The Attempt to Eradicate Christ from Christmas
There is an insanity that pervades our nation. It goes from the top governmental office of president to the lowest governing body. It is the aim of our university system, the NEA and the whole public school system. It is seen in the radical work of environmentalists with their doomsday global warming power-play to enslave the masses of humanity. It is seen in the corporate world.
What is this madness that seeks to eradicate Christ and Christianity from the world scene and which tries to kill the goose that laid the golden egg? It is the madness of the second Psalm revisited for our time:
Why are the nations (heathens) in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? The kings of the earth take their stand, and the rulers take counsel together against the Lord and His Anointed: ‘Let us tear their fetters apart, and cast away their cords from us.’”
The words of Christ apply here to all those of like mind: “Woe to you hypocrites…”
You who would exchange freedom for slavery; who would exchange capitalism for socialism; who would substitute new age cultism for the one true religion which has been the source of blessing to every nation who has so embraced its teachings as its social, economic, governmental and theological underpinning. Every nation who has spurned Christ and Christianity has suffered slavery, war and cultism.
You who would promote your science, your education, your homes, universities, schools, the media, that so consumes your time and that of your children, all without God, take care. You who would have your medicine and your governing bodies all without God and certainly without Christianity, beware. You will kill that which lays the golden eggs that you so worship.
Do you not realize, you corporate followers, you university professors, you governing agencies, you betrayers of a Godly society, what will be the consequences of your political correctness that binds you to an unholy array of ethical, ethnic, social and religious offering so as not to offend and yet offend the very source of your income during the Christmas holiday season?
If you so hate the Christ and the seasons which use His name and you refuse to even allow the word Christmas to be used, in your ‘celebrations’ and your corporate parties, for the season that has a long history of bringing you such great wealth, then why don’t you just opt for doing away with all these holidays? Why don’t you just kill this goose and get it over with?
You are the ones who have promoted and commercialized this season of giving and have reaped the harvest of “good will”, this “peace on earth”. Perhaps it’s time for those who truly love Christ, whom you so offend and hate, to simply join with that cultic band who refuse to be a party to this giving season. Let’s just do away with the celebration by government and universities who have so resisted the use of that Name which is above every name, those who are so sensitive – did I say sensitive? Get over it. Get real! What hypocrisy. What madness. You say you act out of concern for others. What hypocrites you are!!!! Why don’t you at least be honest and admit your aim is not to please everyone, but to eliminate the one source of personal and national hope? Try as you will, He will not go away. There is a wonderful little poem written by John Clifford, which speaks volumes here. It reads:
“Last eve I passed beside a blacksmith’s door,
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then, looking in, I saw upon the floor
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.“How many anvils have you had,” said I,
“To wear and batter all these hammers so?”
“Just one,” said he, and then, with twinkling eye,
“The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.”And so, thought I, the anvil of God’s Word,
For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The anvil is unharmed-the hammers gone.
What you do not understand is that, the Word of God goes beyond the mere printed page, though it is alive with the message to both condemn and to save. The Word was made flesh and dwelt among men. His name is Jesus who is the Christ.. He is the final word, the perfect revelation or Word of God. He is the light of the world. The kind of world you desire, by your action, is one of darkness. If you could eliminate Him, you would have your will. But you see this world was made by Him and for Him and for His glory, not yours. Hammer away, if you will, but remember it is the hammer that wears out, not the anvil.
Go ahead and press your madness, what you have spent years of effort to cultivate to your advantage, and you will kill the goose who laid you a golden egg. Your action will not harm Christ nor Christianity, but will, in fact, strengthen the real thing as opposed to the counterfeit.
Take seriously the words of the second Psalm: “Do homage to the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way, for His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him.”
Where is your scriptural warrant for celebrating Christ-mass at all? The early church did not celebrate it, neither are we given a command, Old or New Testaments, to celebrate our saviour’s birth. Holy writ does not even give us the date. The pagans of today are simply doing what the pagans of ancient Rome did, celebrating their “winter solstice” with licentiousness. When they were “converted” they did the same thing we do: stick a Christian label on it, and continue in their revelry.
The corporate and educational institutions attempt at eradicating any reference of Christ from society, which is the topic of this post, in no way even hints at whether or not I celebrate “Christ-mass”. The Christmas holiday exists. The title of the post refers to said holiday which, unless the Lord returns prior, will take place, whether you and I participate or not. Thanks for your comment, even though incredibly presumptive.
I guess the point of my comment was this, why are we surprised when sinners act like sinners? This world hates Christ. If the holiday observed on 12/25 has any reference to Christ, you can be sure that our Lord’s enemies will try to eradicate it. Where I disagree with you, though, is that by doing so they will “kill the golden goose.” The holiday existed before well intentioned Roman converts renamed it for Christ. It will continue to exist after modern pagans strip the name away once more. Should we get bent out of shape if the grocery store clerk tells us “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas?” We should know that regardless of their greeting you are most likely speaking to a lost soul who will burn in hell. Share Christ with them, not the “Christmas spirit.”
