Franklin Graham: Mormonism Will Never Be Labeled A ‘Cult’ Again
“During a recent interview with CNN, Franklin Graham, son of Billy Graham and president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA), advised that a page that was removed from the ministry website last month following Graham’s endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, which classified Mormonism as a cult, is “not going to come back.”
“I was shocked that we even had that on there,” Franklin Graham said. “[W]e’re calling people names. If I want to win people to Christ, how can I call them names?”
“So, we just took it off,” he continued, insinuating that he made the final decision in the matter. “And it’s not going to come back, because I don’t want to be involved in calling a person a name.”

It is indeed sad that so many evangelical leaders have become pathetic compromisers. It appears that Franklin Graham has forgotten what the Apostle Paul had to say about those who teach another gospel. In Galatians 1:6-9, the Apostle Paul declares “I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you that what you have received, let him be accursed.”
In Ephesians 5:11, the faithful Apostle Paul admonishes the true church “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather refute (expose) them.” How can someone come out of a particular cult unless their teachings are exposed as a fraud? Contrary to what Mormonism teaches, there is only one path that leads to eternal life. Jesus declared in John 14:6 “…I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Kowtowing to the ‘gods’ of Planet Kolob! *facepalm* Oy!
I guess if we can’t call “names”, there are many more words we’ll have to dispense with…..sinner, liar, thief, adulterer, drunkard, idolater, homosexual, wicked, lost, unregenerate, etc. etc. etc.
The evangelical gospel will ultimately have to be watered down to something like….”Jesus (or as much as you understand of him) loves you…. let’s all love him (or as much as you understand of him) and love each other. ”
Oh wait, that already IS being preached.
I think Mormonism has grown too big to be considered a cult. It’s its own religion now. Anyone with me?
