Billy Graham Site Scrubs Mormonism As A Cult
Shortly after Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney enjoyed cookies and soft drinks with the Rev. Billy Graham and his son Franklin Graham on Thursday at the elder Graham’s mountaintop retreat, a reference to Mormonism as a cult was scrubbed from the website of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
In a section of the website called Billy Graham’s My Answer there had been the question “What is a cult?”
Answer: “A cult is any group which teaches doctrines or beliefs that deviate from the biblical message of the Christian faith.”
“Some of these groups are Jehovah’s Witnesess, Mormons, the Unification Church, Unitarians, Spritualists, Scientologists, and others,” the site continued.
No longer. On Tuesday, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association confirmed that page has recently been removed from the site.

Typically Graham!
“It is my prayer that Reformed theology will one day be recognized in its rightful place among the cults. That Luther and Calvin will be spoken of in the same breath as Joseph Smith and Jim Jones. A day when Elyse Fitzpatrick and Martha Peace will be categorized with Mary Baker Eddy and Ellen White. This is the rightful place for the false gospel of progressive justification.”
-Paul Dohse
You are going to have to forsake that 5 pt stuff and that Reformed eschatology man.
Billy Graham has always seemed a nice man who is fundamentally clueless about the gospel of grace. His Arminian invitational system is poor substitute for gospel preaching, grounding saints in the faith once delivered to the saints, and as a foundation for genuine Biblical understanding. I am glad he has kept his life from the open scandal that so many “TV preacher” types fall into. But he is utterly unreliable otherwise. If he or his outfit have removed Mormonism from a list of cults in deference to Romney, all I can say is…shame on ’em.
By the way, I still prefer a Mormon to a closet Muslim. Even though the LDS religion is a damnable doctrine of devils, at least Mormons are not beheading “Gentiles” in SLC.
I am saddened. Being a “good” person or a “kind” person does not save anyone, and as a “leader” of the church, Billy Graham is held to a higher level of accountability… As for preferring Mormon to Muslim, BOTH are damnable doctrines of devils, and how can a man or woman of God in good conscience vote for that which is evil?
Mormonism may be theologically evil, but is a vote for Romney a vote for Mormonism, much less a vote for EVIL? If Romney is “evil,” whatever is Charles Manson? I suppose some of your super-pure types voted for the “born-again” Jimmy Carter. How’d that work out for ya?
I weary of some Christians playing political conscience to other Christians. If you won’t vote, fine. I can live with it. But enough of this feigned superiority that says “I’m too spiritual to vote for anyone but an Apostle.” Some of you are so spiritual you would never vote -I mean after all, what president or other public official is as spiritual as YOU?
God spare us Christians who see in the mirror an image purer than Ivory Soap and sweeter than frosted pop tarts. And by the way, I put it to you my friend cshowers, – would you as an openly Christian man or woman rather walk down some Salt Lake City street OR some Saudi street? C’mon…man…..enough of blind parity and spiritual hyperbole.
