Bootlicker, Ignorant, Coward or Unregenerate?
Nowhere are Christian leaders more prone to kowtow to others as when their very careers and reputations may be affected by those to whom they allow serious error in exchange for favorable status to the masses, especially in these days of social media.
Such is the case regarding John MacArthur.
While Ed Young, Osteen, Jakes, Driscoll and a plethora of others remain easy and acceptable targets, MacArthur seems off-limits, one of the ‘untouchables.’
Brethren, we are to stand for truth, not be toady, bootlick or suck up when convenient or personally profitable.
Jesus is coming again, that’s eschatology, and you have no interest in that? C’mon.
Many of you reading this are quick to ridicule and mock Osteen and others because of their false gospels, perverted Trinity doctrine or claims of audibly hearing the voice of God. As I said, easy targets. And, when you do so, you have a mass of people behind your voice who are ready and willing to shout “Amen!” – even if regurgitating something so widely known already that it is completely unhelpful. It doesn’t advance us spiritually, it only reaffirms what is already known. Where’s the profit in that?
In the meantime, one of the most beloved expositors of our day is mocking and insulting the Lord Jesus Christ, repeatedly, and has been for decades, and far too many remain silent. They say nothing. Nada. Their lips, twitter, Facebook, all of their social-media outlets are completely silent. Why is that?
I can only think of four reasons.
- They don’t want to say anything because they’ll lose favor, in some way, shape or form in the eyes of others if they speak out against someone who is so very well respected and beloved.
- They lack spiritual growth due to lack of biblical instruction.
- They are simply cowards. Perfectly understandable, but not acceptable.
- They are unregenerate and do not love the things God loves, and hate the things He hates.
To lists the many ways MacArthur insults our Lord Jesus is beyond the scope of this post, but I’ll give you one, and I trust you will prayerfully consider it.
In regards to the death of our Lord on the cross, we read in Matthew 27:51:
And behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; andthe earth shook and the rocks were split.
In MacArthur’s study bible, his footnote on this passage says (and rightly so) this:
27:51 the veil of the temple. i.e., the curtain that blocked the entrance to the Most Holy Place (Ex. 26:33; Heb. 9:3). The tearing of the veil signified that the way into God’s presence was now open to all through a new and living way (Heb. 10:19-22). The fact that it tore “from top to bottom” showed that no man had split the veil. God did it.
Now. John MacArthur contradicts himself by teaching the rebuilding of a future temple, a restoration of animal sacrifices and much more that is simply repugnant, an insult to the Lord Jesus – and that’s an understatement.
Let me put it this way.
How dare anyone claim that the renting or tearing of the veil at the death of Jesus on the cross, signify that the way into God’s presence is now open to all who believe through a new and living way (Heb. 10:19-22), something that God did, not man now teach:
The veil torn and abolished at Christ’s death will once again be hung. MacArthur himself, above, says that God did it, yet now Mac would now have what God has done, not man, be undone. That God who tells us, the Church, that we are His temple (I Cor. 3:16) will then be replaced by a temple made of hands? That the one true sacrifice of our Lord and Savior will be replaced – in His presence nonetheless – with sacrifices of animals whose blood could never take away sin?
I refuse to be silent when our Lord and His once-for-all sacrifice is mocked so openly, and suggestion made that a torn veil be rehung, and other sacrifices be reinstituted.
Will you not lift up your voices in opposition to these great insults to the One you claim to love?

As I keep finding, there are a lot of folks who revere Mac , and lets be frank, he’s a likable guy, runs a reputable ministry , speaks well and has a ministry mantra that one can hardly argue against” Grace To You.”.The reality is that all these things are a smoke screen, Mac is the epitomy of the wolf in sheeps clothing, it is those of his ilk that we were warned about.
