Tim Conway: Dispensationalism – Is It Biblical?
So many people have seen the Left Behind series or grown up in a building like John Hagee’s…but is everything they teach biblical or not?
As a system of theology, I believe it is false! John Nelson Darby, C.I. Scofield, Lewis Sperry Chafer, Charles Ryrie and others at Dallas Theological Seminary, have brought great confusion to myriads of people…to put it lightly. I pray you will listen carefully! – JT
This is an excellent video. Being a former dispensationalist, he pretty much nailed their view down cold with the exception of not mentioning the softer view of dispensationalists such as John MacArthur. MacArthur wrote two books titled “The Gospel According to Jesus” and “The Gospel According to the Apostles.” In both of these books, MacArthur critiques the hyper-dispensationalism of Hodges and Ryrie. However, MacArthur is still a proponent of a dispensationalism that distinguishes between Israel and the Church and that believes in a pre-trib rapture and a premillennial return of Christ with a literal 1,000 kingdom prior to the eternal state.
Still, Pastor Conway’s critique was spot on and he did a brilliant job of breaking down the two-age model and debunking the pre-trib rapture. Thanks for the video!
Unbelievable, a hard core reformer that repudiates the pre-mil 1000 years. I left the dispensantionalist camp years ago, after putting the books down and read the bible. And then let the bible interpret the bible.
It is so cool how Genesis and Revelations tie together.
